Antibiotic Resistance & Conventional Lyme Disease Treatment

2 March 2020

Hi, I hope this finds you in good health and vitality.

In today’s article, Health Bunker will address Antibiotics. Like vaccines, they are lauded as the saviour to humankind. But have you ever wondered what Antibiotics actually are? Or how do they really work? What is Antibiotic Resistance?

In the case of people with Lyme Disease antibiotics are the only treatment on offer from the NHS. But what happens when they don’t work?

Antibiotic Treatment for Lyme Disease; According to the NHS Website;

As we have mentioned in previous articles, if you think you may be bitten by an infected tick or have symptoms of Lyme Disease, like erythema migrans (red bullseye rash) which spreads around the tick bite area, you need to have a blood test.

Public Health England and in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, warn that wooded areas may contain these infected ticks.

The NHS offers a 2 tier Lyme disease test, but are at best they’re 50% accurate. They have decided not to validate any other test. I have been contacted on Health Bunker by a number of sufferers who tested negative using the NHS test, but positive using another. Their doctor would not even recognise their new results.

NHS

‘A few people who are diagnosed and treated for Lyme disease continue to have symptoms, like tiredness, aches and loss of energy, that can last for years. These symptoms are often compared to fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. It’s not clear why this happens to some people and not others. This means there’s also no agreed treatment. Speak to your doctor if your symptoms come back after treatment with antibiotics or they do not start to improve’.

Meanwhile At The Batcave!

Every Lyme sufferer who contacts Health Bunker may have seen improvements during a course of antibiotics. But, once they ended antibiotic treatment, most actually got worse. So why is the NHS giving out at best-outdated information?

Antibiotic treatment does initially kill some of the infection, but during death throws, Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) lays thousands of eggs automatically. These eggs lay in wait and once the antibiotics stop and leave the system, BOOM! They appear again in more numbers.

Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome, Chronic Lyme

Lyme Disease is not just Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb). Lyme Disease covers a whole group of other infections that cause a cascade of syndromes, damaged organs, autoimmune issues and other symptoms.

In short Borrelia burgdorferi is the catalyst that sets off a domino effect, which over time reduces the immune systems ability to protect. This then allows infections that would not normally cause a big issue to run riot. In the process of destroying our DNA, opening up genetic weaknesses that cause even more problems.

Also in an already weakened system, the side effects of long term use of antibiotics are horrendous, and I can speak from personal experience. Long term antibiotic use alone creates problems like digestive disorders which go on to cause a host of other related issues. Which is where we’re going next.

What are Antibiotics?

Antibiotics are produced using ‘soil microorganisms’ which are bacteria, these bacteria are detrimental to different strains of other bacteria that affect humans. So, in effect, we are taking bacteria to kill other bacteria.

Penicillin was discovered by Alexander Flemming in 1928, but not launched as a commercial drug until 1941. The first antibiotics were species of the fungus or mould bacteria called ‘Penicillium notatum’. It was found that this fungus killed a host of other infectious diseases that made humans ill. Now there are a whole host of antibiotic drugs. 100 to be exact and there 7 main classes of Antibiotics;

In short, antibiotic drugs are bacteria from mould/fungus that are used to kill other bacteria.

Antibiotic Side Effects

Apart from antibiotic-resistant bacteria issues, there is quite a lot of knowledge and research which has found antibiotics actually cause or are linked to other debilitating or even life-threatening diseases. Antibiotics are not the disease control and prevention utopia we may think they are.

Antibiotic Studies

Colon Cancer and Antibiotics – Peer-Reviewed Study, Published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ)

A peer-reviewed study found that taking prescription Antibiotics increased the risk of developing bowel cancer and polyps. This is a rather worrying finding considering that there are more than 70 billion doses taken a year (2010 figs), and in the US more than 270 million prescriptions are made anually for antibiotics.

This study found that antibiotics reduced gut microbiome, which in turn reduces the immune system and our ability to digest food, leading to a whole catalogue of disease and illness.

Antibiotics Increase the Risk of Depression!

Some antibiotics have been linked with depression mainly levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin. They belong to the fluoroquinolones family. A large UK study of medical records found that just one course increased the risk of depression by 25%.

The Penicillin group of antibiotic medication increased your depression risk by 23%, and 2 courses increased it by 40%. Five courses plus increased depression risk by a massive 56%.

Candida Albican

Candida is a yeast overgrowth caused by use of antibiotic drugs. These drugs kill beneficial bacteria leaving us open to an overgrowth of bad bacteria and allows fungus to take root. The list of Candida symptoms is quite large, numbering over 100, ironically most of the symptoms are very similar to Lyme disease and a lot of other issues too. See link for a full list.

Doxycycline Side Effects and Ingredients.

Health Bunker

We’ve only had the time to write a brief overview of 1 type of antibiotic, the ingredients and a few of side effects. This subject deserves a major review. Most of us will have had numerous prescription antibiotics throughout our lifetimes. If not we will eat them everyday via meat consumption, chicken, beef, pork, lamb and farmed fish are all routinely given these drugs, with or without infections. They are actually added to animal feed. They are not put on the ingredient list on a packet, they are classed as secondary pre-production ingredients. These are used before the product is processed, like pesticides sprayed on food for example.

All (apart from water) of those ingredients are harmful to humans, E172 causes DNA damage, Titanium dioxide is a possible carcinogen, Formaldehyde is a probable human carcinogen, and petrol and plastic are totally unacceptable.

Global antibiotic sales are rising, it is estimated that sales will reach a staggering $62bn a year by 2026. Around 40% of this figure will be used in animal feed.

So what is causing the rise in depression, digestive disorders, cancers and others across the globe? It must be another one of those irritating coincidences!
