What is Candida?

10 December 2020

Hi welcome back to Health Bunker Blog.

Today we’re looking into a fungal overgrowth called Candida.

Over the past year or so I have covered mould infections so I thought it would be good to investigate another infection, not spoken about by mainstream medicine.

Candida was one of my first wake up calls to the fact that my doctor didn’t know everything. Candida was also the first independent blood test I took way back in 2007, 10 years before we had a positive Lyme test.

When I told my doctor, I had Candida he looked at me as if I’d just arrived from Mars.

He said, “The NHS doesn’t recognise Candida as an illness”

Now after years of research looking into many different subjects I know why they don’t want to recognise or publicize Candida as an issue.

So, in the blog we will be asking,

What is Candida?

How do you get this fungal infection?

What are the symptoms?

Can Candida go on to cause serious health issues?

How do you clear up Candida?

My Own Candida Experience

In May 2007 I had a York Test Food Intolerance test; it came back with some usual suspects like Gluten (I hadn’t a clue what gluten was at that point) and a few others.

It also said that I had evidence of Candida Albicans. Again, I hadn’t a clue what Candida was. I did some rudimentary research and found that it was a fungal overgrowth and that antibiotics could be the cause due to them destroying your gut flora.

Up to this point I thought like most of the population that antibiotics were wonder drugs that basically cured everything.

How wrong I was, in fact they probably cause more illness than they ever cure.

I went straight to the doctors armed with my new candida and gluten evidence. He said regarding the York Tests the NHS do not use these so we can’t validate the accuracy or authenticity of the test. Looking back that statement is laughable considering the state of Lyme testing.

He also informed me that on my NHS intolerance test I didn’t have a gluten issue so as far as he was concerned, I wasn’t gluten intolerant.

The doctor did not know what Candida Albicans was at all, and he told me that the NHS do not recognise Candida as a separate illness.

No wonder the NHS do not recognise it. They prescribe the very thing that probably causes candida, antibiotics.

The NHS recognise that Candida can cause Thrush but not anything else, nor do they say what causes Candida in the first place. (1) (2)

What is Candida?

Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by a yeast (a type of fungus) called Candida. Some species of Candida can cause infection in people; the most common is Candida albicans.

Candida normally lives on the skin and inside the body, in places such as the mouth, throat, gut, and vagina, normally without causing any problems.

In normal circumstances Candida is kept under control by beneficial bacteria and the body’s immune defences.

The yeast/fungi thrive if the insides of our body’s become acidic or our natural chemistry changes. This can happen from diet or if we take antibiotics for example.

Antibiotics kill bad bacteria, but they also kill off our beneficial bacteria too. This goes on to cause an overgrowth of bad bacteria, mould, and fungus.

They love swamp like conditions to live in terrain of our body becomes an eco-system for everything that’s bad for us.

Thrush is a prime example of this.

Some say to me that I don’t have antibiotics or haven’t had them for years.

But, they don’t realise that we eat and drink Antibiotics everyday in every meal because antibiotics are found in meat and milk;

When we ingest meat or milk products they contain veterinary drugs. The residue from these drugs are left in the meat and milk products.

They include; (4)

Antibiotics, Anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), Wormers, and growth hormones to name a few.(3)

They have even been found in our water supply;

‘Looking at data on 45 antibiotics from 13 countries worldwide, the report’s authors found sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim and ciprofloxacin to be the three most frequently found in the water that flows out of waste water treatment plants’

Candida Symptoms

Globally it is thought that nearly 1 billion people are estimated to have a fungal infection of the skin, nails, hair, mouth or intestines. Over 150 million people have a serious fungal disease throughout the world.

There over 200 different species of the Candida genus, and some can be fatal to humans.

Candidemia is the most common form of invasive candidiasis, but it does not represent all forms of invasive candidiasis because the infection can occur in the heart, kidney, bones, and other internal organs without being detected in the blood.

In fact, the true burden of invasive candidiasis might be twice as high as the estimate for candidemia.

Four main types of Candidiasis are:

  • Oropharyngeal or oesophageal, candidiasis, a yeast infection of the mouth, throat, and oesophagus, referred to as oral thrush.
  • Genital or Vulvovaginal candidiasis, commonly referred to as vaginal thrush.
  • Cutaneous candidiasis, yeast infection of the skin most commonly as irritation under women’s breasts, in the armpits or groin areas of both genders and as nappy rash in infants.
  • Invasive candidiasis, a serious infection affects various parts of the body including the blood, heart, eyes, brain, and bones.

Here are some of the main symptoms Candida can cause.

  • Oral Thrush. Candidiasis that develops in the mouth or throat is called thrush
  • Tiredness and Fatigue
  • Recurring Genital or Urinary Tract Infections
  • Digestive Issues
  • Sinus Infections
  • Skin and Nail Fungal Infections
  • Joint Pain

Candida infections can cause symptoms even in healthy people. Usually the yeast infections are limited to the mouth, genital area, or skin.

However, people with a weakened system from illness or medications such as corticosteroids or anticancer drugs are not only more susceptible to topical infections, they also are more likely to experience more serious internal issues.

Candida is linked to IBS, SIBO, Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and candida is also associated with an increased risk of several cancers a Danish study showed.

How do you clear up Candida?

It can take years to clear up the damage done by antibiotics and candida.  Because candida is a yeast it makes alcohol in your gut and you can taste it too and sometimes you can feel a little woozy from it.

It’s made from the fermenting western diets we eat, high carbohydrates, heavily processed meals, and refined sugar. All the bad stuff need taking out of your diet yes including alcohol.

Candida causes our digestive system to stop digesting and all that food waste goes bad inside us. Causing more issues like constipation, diarrhoea, and gas.

To clear up our gut issues we did an intense ketogenic diet, and still do, low carb high fat and high fibre.

Some good probiotics and digestive enzymes are needed too as well as green juicing, a full detox program is require and a rebuild of the guts microbiome.

The main thing we used other than diet was Ozone treatments, via ozonated water to clear the digestive tract, rectal ozone for intestinal and liver detox and Ozone 10 Pass therapy, we also used Ozone Sauna and Far/Near Infrared Sauna.

I’m not going to go into more detail here as it would take a full article, which I will cover in another blog.

Leaky Gut (LGS)

Leaky gut is a candida symptom. Overgrowth of Candida Albicans can cause leaky gut, an unhealthy gut can have little holes or cracks develop.

Due to the imbalance of good v bad bacteria, Candida can take root in the oesophagus, stomach, and the upper and lower intestines.

Candida yeast can grow through the gut wall allowing food to leak into other areas of the body.

This is a serious late-stage infection, creating many symptoms. If your immune system senses food in places it shouldn’t be then you could build up food allergies or intolerances to food, you eat regularly.

Our immune system will say, that shouldn’t be there, that food is an invader, it will then start an autoimmune response every time you eat that food.

It will not matter if that food is cake or spinach, you may develop food allergies and intolerances, not just to the food but all the regular ingredients too.

For instance.

A bacon sandwich, with tomato sauce, on sliced white bread, with butter. On the face of it there are 4 ingredients. But the tomato sauce will have over 10, as will the bacon, bread, and butter each.

Unknowingly, you could be eating about 50 ingredients in your bacon sandwich some or all of which you could build up antibodies to.

Here’s what leaky gut can cause or contribute to:

  • Chronic diarrhoea, constipation, or bloating
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Confusion
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Mental issues
  • Skin problems, such as acne, rashes, or eczema
  • Joint pain
  • Inflammation

These are some health conditions LGS has been linked to:

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Celiac disease
  • Chronic liver disease
  • Diabetes
  • Food allergies and sensitivities
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome

Health Bunker

Someone said that my blogs have a lot of good detail but seem to be a little negative at times. I want to state this is not about positive and negative, I write these blogs to discover the true picture.

The sad thing is there is nothing positive about being poisoned by our government or the health experts, or companies in the pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries.

Candida is another one of those things, 1 billion people have Candida, with over 150 million developing a serious fungal disease. A large number die from the effect of fungal poisoning.

Make no mistake one of the main culprits of candida are antibiotics, which are sold to us as one of the biggest health discoveries in modern medicine.

I now must question if the cure is worse than the disease. Humans have a propensity to mend something we caused in the first place with something that goes on to cause a multitude of issues in the future.

Candida has a hand in most of the conditions we see today, all you need to do is read the research. It affects 1 billion people. Is this a pandemic?

Just look at what the word ‘antibiotic’ means, ‘anti’ means against and ‘biotic’ means “pertaining to life.”

So, the word antibiotic means ‘against life’, but who’s life, our life?

See you next time.

Eat Well. Be Well.
